This endeavor marked the culmination of my university journey, serving as my final year project. With a broad brief, I had the liberty to explore various digital media avenues. Opting to create an advanced website, my core ambitions were: to create a unique brand identity solely for this project and to delve into the realm of presenting 3D models online. My aim was to utilise the capabilities of Three.js—an advanced JavaScript library for creating 3D graphics on the web—in crafting an immersive digital experience.
In tackling this project, my mission was to underscore the magic we can create in the digital domain. Enter Numi™, a fictitious furniture brand specializing in clever space-saving designs, serving as the star of my case study. Numi’s philosophy is crystal clear: even in a small space, you should be able to unwind, entertain, and work comfortably. It’s all about maximizing your space and comfort. Alongside showcasing the power of 3D on the web to enhance user experience, I prioritized the development of a website that's not just visually stunning but also user-friendly and highly functional. After all, creating an immersive digital experience involves ensuring easy navigation and seamless functionality. By showcasing Numi's product lineup into interactive 3D models, I aimed to bring to life the essence of Numi's mantra: "Maximise your space and comfort."
The logo was created using the Brutalist-inspired typeface called 'Cy,' selected for its unique characteristics. In particular, the letters 'n' and 'u' are designed with sharp, 90 degree edges rather than rounded arcs. The 'n' and 'u' share identical symbols, with one being a 180-degree rotation of the other, representing the versatility and multi-functionality embodied by the furniture pieces. To enhance the logo's aesthetics and create a harmonious composition, the remaining letters 'mi' are designed with rounded edges. This intentional contrast between the sharp and rounded elements provided a visually pleasing flow to the logo, capturing the brand's balance of modernity and comfort.
For this project, I crafted the models using Blender. My objective was to breathe life into the digital realm with hyper-realistic images that could easily be mistaken for photographs. Leveraging modern lighting techniques, I designed studio setups to showcase the projects in unique and contemporary ways. The smooth integration of creativity and modern technology allowed me to bring these creations to life, blurring the lines between the digital and the tangible.
When creating the website design, I aimed for a layout that catches the eye without being too complicated. The goal was to make a strong first impression on users right from the start. While the appearance of the website is essential, I also emphasized the importance of functionality. I established clear goals and user paths to ensure smooth navigation. Additionally, I optimized the website to work seamlessly on various devices, including desktops, tablets, and mobiles, making it accessible and user-friendly. The objective was to strike a balance, creating a visually appealing website that delivers a practical and enjoyable user experience.
